openSUSE 11.0 é o próximo lançamento da comunidade que incorpora novas funções tanto da comunidade como do desenvolvimento interno. Esta versão será compatível com as plataformas x86, x86-64 e ppc.

Maiores áreas de interesse:

  • melhorada a instalação de 1 CD (ligação à Internet já não é necessária)
  • suporte a UMTS
  • pacotes de actualização de software optimizados
  • instalação mais fácil
  • instalação com novo visual
  • KDE: KDE4 usado em vez do KDE3 como predefinido
  • GNOME 2.22

  • Objectivo: get new installer look out

Qui, Feb 07 openSUSE 11.0 Versão Alpha 2

  • Objectivo: KDE strategy is in place (KDE4.0, KDE 4.1 or 3.5) - If it turns out to be a no-go, it has to be corrected till component freeze

Ter, Mar 18 openSUSE 11.0 Versão Alpha 3

  • Nota: this week it's earlier due to other products blocking
  • Objectivo: No more features in state "Evaluation" in FATE.
  • Objectivo: Toolchain is feature frozen (unless gcc 4.3 still not ready)

Ter, Abr 1 Primeira Ronda de Tradução

  • Objectivo: All packages submitted latest POT file into SVN

Seg, Abr 7 Component freeze for beta1, crypto freeze

  • Objectivo: We have settled for a KDE branch to go for
  • Objectivo: Feature and version freeze for the base system
  • Objectivo: Kernel and install works on most targeted machines.
  • Objectivo: Packages containing cryptographic routines are frozen (ECR)
  • Preliminary Authoring Deadline for localized doc files (ADL loc prelim)

Qui, Abr 17 openSUSE 11.0 Versão Beta 1

  • Objectivo: installation workflow is feature frozen
  • Proofreading of all software starts so that we have a new baseline.
  • Objectivo: Feature and version freeze for the complete distribution (exception: patchlevel update of leaf packages until Beta1+)
  • Objectivo: First localized build
  • Objectivo: Complete string freeze
  • Objectivo: All features are coding and function complete.
  • Objectivo: Kernel and install works on all targeted machines.
  • Objectivo: Last round of software translation starts - "hard text freeze"
  • Objectivo: Documentation deadline ("authoring deadline") for localized manuals, proofing starts, first source drop (locdrop) to Localization for volume estimates
  • Objectivo: all new desktop applications, incl. KDE 4 apps, to ship with the product are integrated

Seg, Abr 21 Ronda Principal de Tradução

  • Objectivo: All packages submitted latest POT file into SVN
  • 12:00 CEST: Developers to check in the POTs for the 2nd cycle of software translation

Qui, Abr 24 openSUSE 11.0 Versão Beta 1+

  • Objectivo: Patchlevel update of leaf packages finished.

Sex, Mai 02 openSUSE 11.0 Versão Beta 2

  • Nota: May 1st is public holiday in most of europe
  • Objectivo: Fully localized build
  • Objectivo: Localization testing starts
  • Objectivo: Only major/critical/blocker bugfixes allowed.
  • Objectivo: Drop of (EN) screen shots to Localization
  • Objectivo: Preliminary drop of all manuals for novell.com/documentation web site (beta) to rballard

Ter, Mai 13 openSUSE 11.0 Versão Beta 3

  • Nota: This week it's earlier due to other products blocking

Qui, Mai 22 openSUSE 11.0 Versão Beta 3+ (interna)

  • Objectivo: Only blocker bugfixes allowed.

Qui, Mai 29 openSUSE 11.0 Versão Candidata 1

  • Objectivo: All blocker bugs resolved.
  • Objectivo: Last fixes for localization found during testing incorporated.
  • Objectivo: Drop of Release Notes to Localization

Qui, Jun 5 openSUSE 11.0 Versão GMC (interna)

  • Nota: Depending on the number of blocker bugs that appear _after_ RC1 release, this might be public too
  • Objectivo: Drop of Release Notes to Localization

Qui, Jun 12 openSUSE 11.0 Versão GM (interna)

  • Only showstopper and security bugfixes get integrated.
  • Objectivo: Final drop of all manuals for novell.com/documentation (and ESD for download.novell.com) to rballard

Qui, Jun 19 openSUSE 11.0 Lançamento ao Público

  • Lançamento no servidor ftp
  • Toda a documentação disponível em novell.com/documentation

Sex, Jun 20 openSUSE 11.0 post proof reading starts

  • Proofreading of all software that was not completely proof-read during the normal openSUSE 11.0 cycle so that we have a new baseline.
